Click the Magic of Instant Connections
All feel the importance of those close to us in our lives. Here is a book that answers why we feel butterflies of attraction, Click the Magic of Instant Connections by Ori Brafman and Rom Brafman (authors of Sway).
I have written about the importance of “connecting” in previous articles so this review is another stitch in our blog identity and it began with seeing this magnetic logo title. Click explains how that heightened sense of euphoria (you know what I mean) relates to matters of long-term relationships, successful business and an overall better life.
A quick eight chapter read, this book’s most connecting quality is the main point summary following every section; these highlights include click accelerators, high self-monitors, personal elevation, quick-set intimacy and the magical state. Qualities of each are shared in detail such as with the most resonant attribute, that of resonance. A more or less Zen-like state, this is when you feel like everything is exactly as it should be, completely in flow or “to use a sports catchphrase, in the zone” (pg. 82). A Chicago chord is struck during the personal elevation pages where a group of Northwestern’s Kellogg Graduate School of Management study the effect. Essentially students were asked to identify ten others they liked best and then the body was divided into three teams. During the activities the “clicking groups” produced “20 percent more models than the mere-acquaintance triads and were 70 percent more accurate on the admissions evaluations” (pg 177). Bringing it back to the beginning, the authors relate the importance of vulnerability, gut-level and peak statements and how such helps “create magical connections,” by “elevating the language we use from” level to level (pgs. 39-40). Word-of-mouth marketing aside, this read and me definitely clicked.
To sum-up in a favorite quote as I often do here’s one towards the end of the book which succinctly explains why people that “click” find themselves surrounded by happiness and triumph:
The passions, energy, sheer joy, and enthusiasm the members of such groups experience help to bring out their best selves (pg. 183).
Allow your Chicago design firm to co-develop the way you connect with your target audience; trust us, we will “click.”
